It was a very early and cold start on Saturday 24 April for this event which heads up and down the Tonbridge by-pass. Being one of the faster 10 courses in Kent it always attracts a large and quality field with 100 riders on the start sheet although only 92 started.
Just 3 from the club (if we have missed anyone let me know - email@example.com). Superb result from Glenda, I know Katrina was hit by the running sickness and Mike 'marathon' Clyne just keeps on running.
Thank you for all of your valuable feedback from April’s race, it’s very kind of you to take the time out to do it, we’ve even had feedback from someone who missed the event as they couldn’t get back for it!
Below is a summary of all the category winners
Mick and Alastair raced by the sea. Alastair should have been in Boston, but guess what!.....read their reports below
Here is the link to the final results from todays race. Many thanks to all the competitors that make this such a great day, and of course to the 7oaks Tri Club marshals who seem make it all happen so effortlessly!
Simon Stromberg and Roger Roy finished 16th of out 22 teams. Unfortunately Sarah Roy and Donna Shepherd didn't finish as a team due to Donna puncturing.

If you've entered our race on 18 April and would like to have a guided run round the course in Knole Park followed by a ride round the bike course, then meet up at the Leisure Centre on Saturday 3rd April. The run will start at 9.00 and the cycle ride an hour later at 10.00. See you then!
Not content with braving the elements at the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon last weekend, Mick Barstow and Mark Evans took on the Stenying Stinger this Sunday as part of their training for the Brighton and Paris Marathons respectively.
To help make our roads safer for cycling, (with a long way to go to equal the continent) an on-line petition, calling for tougher penalties for drivers ignoring the mobile phone ban, needs support. Deadline March 23, 2010
"In a final desperate - and largely pointless - bid to keep his feet dry, Charlie took inspiration form the little known 1930's Italian acrobatics troupe, "The Flying Mancinis", and promptly pinged a hamstring.........."
Some really good time in atrocious conditions. Not only was it lashing down with rain and windy but there were lots of places were the roads were flooded all the way across. 10 members racing under the 7Oaks Tri name including new member Jack Miles.Similar conditions on the Kent Killer Sportive that was shortened to 70km and had 9 club members riding including Cath Linney in very practical pink wellingtons (on her Planet X!)
Finally an event that wasn't cancelled because of the weather and Mike Clyne gets a change to strut his Nikes.
Mark Evans reports on another freezing weekend of fun
Dave Truman usually provides a report of his Saturday ride, so to find up what he and his mates get up to....
Normally a good number of 7Oaks Tri club members take part in this enjoyable ride. Meet at Knockholt Village Hall at 9.00 for the 107km route or 9.30 for the 64km route. Pay £5 on the day.
The original shirker is back firstname.lastname@example.org, no need for anonymity because he is only shirking from his pipe, slippers and other domestic duties! Contact Neil for the next ride which is...
The finishing times for this challenging event (not a race) are here . Those who took part are either very brave or slightly insane. It is surprising that the organisers let the event go ahead using minor roads as the icy conditions meant that walking was essential for some parts of the course. Good to see Will Mangar's name at the top of the list who had a near death experience coming down Toys Hill.
If you fancy an early season test of your fitness, send your entry form and cheque for £7 (payable to VC Elan) to Paul Mepham, 6, Sirdar Strand, Riverview Park Estate, Gravesend, Kent. DA12 4LP. Entries close 15 Feb.
Andy Jones seems to be making a good impression on the XC circuit. He and Jane Wiley were at the Dartford 10 miler.
Neil unfortunately skidded on ice near Hadlow on the early Sunday ride and has two broken but undisplaced ribs and soft tissue damage. He was in Hospital overnight and won't be out shirking for the next Friday or so. Val Place also skidded on black ice on Sunday morning too suffering bruising but nothing broken. Take care on the roads, apart from ice here and there, despite the thaw, there are loads more potholes and many of them are covered by water. The air temperature may be above freezing, but often early in the morning the ground can be frozen.
Not surprisingly, due to take place on 10 January, this has been postponed until October.
Due to the anticipated poor weather for next week, it has been decided to put this event back to 28 February. Hopefully, all thirty or so of our members (great turnout) who entered can make the new date, but if not you can claim a refund of the entry fee before 23 January.
Sub-zero conditions and occasional snow flurries greeted the record field of 86 competitors, and in spite of the frozen ground, most runners returned to the finish at the village hall having found copious amounts of mud.First results of the year (If you want to see any of last years statistics you can find them under the Members tab)
7Oaks Tri Club has again affiliated to British Cycling for 2010.
A provisional calendar of 20 events for next year is now available. You will see that all events are relatively local to Sevenoaks (some nearer than others) and are co promoted with two other clubs (Sydenham Wheelers & GS Avanti) with whom we will also be running an inter-club competition.
aka SE England Bog Snorkelling Championships - 6/12/09 As the pantagruelian quantities of perpendicular precipitation plummeted from the skies (that’s quite enough pointless alliteration thankyou – ed.), never has a port-a-loo looked so appealing...
If so, consider joining the Kent group of the Veterans Time Trial Association (VTTA).
GS Avanti's "Kentish Killer" from Polhill Garden Centre on 17 January is now full! The 100K route has sold all 240 places and the 75K route all 50. Twenty eight 7Oaks Tri Club members are taking part (we have the largest contingent from any Club), see the Club diary to see who has entered, including "Down Hill Wimp". Mike Turner seems to be doing both the 75K and 100K route, very impressive!, (We have since found out that it is actually Katrina doing the 75K). Details here.
And they called it a fun run, some very competitive times in wet and windy conditions
Great results from a select team of swimmers. Have a look at the detailed results for some amazing split tmes.
The mud plugging season has started with some competitive results
Mike and Alastair had a storming race. Full report below
It's not just Martin Brown's Sunday ride that calls people from their bed early in the morning.....it's a global phenomenon. Swiss Re in Bangalore has its own Sunday Cycle group, lead by Alok Kumar (Head of Catastrophe Modelling) and 7Oaks Tri Club is currently represented in that group- courtesy of a borrowed mountain bike.
Starts promptly at 20.30 at Cornwall Hall, The Drive, Sevenoaks. All club turbo's now booked - Gill Sanders, Mark Evans, Paul Crouch, Natalie Fitz-Gerald, Penny and James Bulley. Still enough room to bring your own turbo and join in the fun with Andy Miles!More information - email@example.com

Here are all the local sportives and reliability rides due to be held this winter. You will note that some are still to be confirmed. For some events check respective websites for further details nearer the time.
Willumsen's fault, this one. Dave has done a few of these before, and tried to enlist a few willing volunteers. By about Tuesday before the race, there was a ladies team, "Team Hot Staff" - Sally Mortleman / Kim Moss / Liz McLaughlin, and Sevenoaks A - Dan Bryant / Neil Harris and err ............Dave W, who in his own words was "effing bricking it - I don't want to go round with those 2".
Yet another successful weekend for the club including Val on the P3!
This was no ordinary time trial, no skin suits, no pointy helmets and an eery silence. Not much pre race banter just very subdued slightly scary faces. This was the prelude to 2min+ of pure terror and answers to
Mike Turner stunning debut sub 12 hoursIan glover ditto - just under 13 1/4 hrs Al Ahmed knocked almost 90 mins off his pb to go sub 14

28 Club members turned out for the end of season hill climb. Without exception, everyone who completed this event last year improved on their time this morning. Well done one and all, the training is obviously paying off! For results see below.
Update - We now have a time for Andrew Jones who finished 4th in 06:43, unless you finished in the top 3 this moves you down a place, sorry!
According to the spectators there were about 10 club members racing, I make it more like 28!
