Beijing, Saturday 10th September 4.15am
Alarm goes, 3 hrs before race start. It’s tipping it down outside – not forecast. Switch into auto race prep mode – breakfast (brought from home so no rubber noodles and soy sauce this morning). Stomach churning – adrenaline kicked in last night. Thoughts are all about the race – gone over it twenty times in my head, especially the transition from swim to bike – along a pontoon, up two flights of steps then a 500m uphill run to the bike transition area. Final kit check, pack umbrellas, rain jackets and hats. Down to the lobby – mass of triathletes squashed onto the bus – pitch black outside.
Another excellent turnout from the club and four members finishing in the top scoring positions! Well done all especially those that PB'd.
