New Year Madness

Happy New Year everyone!
Another year ticks past, but what a great one we all have to look forward to.  Some club members chose to greet the New Year in the only way a true  7Oaks-ian knows, a run through a muddy field or a dip in a freezing lake!

Christmas swimming

Due to limited pool opening times the last club swim session of 2011 will be Wednesday 21 December at WH. We will then have to wait until January 3rd to work off those excess mince pies. For those of you who cant wait that long Mike has kindly agreed to post swim sets for both weeks as normal, if that is you can find a pool that is open!

Club Time Trial Champs 2011 - Final Positions

We know that Martin Brown and Penny Bully were the winners this year and Sam Bennett closely followed by Jamie Saunders was best improver. Over 40 members took part with 14 completing 6 or more events to qualify for the championship. Well done all riders and those who assisted in any way.

Christmas Ride – Add your comments

It may have been damp and dull but that didn’t stop 30ish hardy 7Oaks members braving the cold (the things people will do for free coffee and cake).

New member Steve Walker flies at XXT - Great picture

This was only my 3rd triathlon following the London tri and Crystal Palace and I have to say it was the most fun.

Searby's at Hillingdon: More Team Lowroad than Highroad

World Triathlon Championships, Beijing - Bulley's on Tour

Beijing, Saturday 10th September 4.15am
Alarm goes, 3 hrs before race start. It’s tipping it down outside – not forecast. Switch into auto race prep mode – breakfast (brought from home so no rubber noodles and soy sauce this morning). Stomach churning – adrenaline kicked in last night. Thoughts are all about the race – gone over it twenty times in my head, especially the transition from swim to bike – along a pontoon,  up two flights of steps then a 500m uphill run to the bike transition area.  Final kit check, pack umbrellas, rain jackets and hats. Down to the lobby – mass of triathletes squashed onto the bus – pitch black outside.

Southwater Results and even more images

Under leaden skies the great and good of sprint tri descended on Southwater for the annual club relay event. As in previous years and thanks to a massive effort by team manager, Mick Barstow, 7oaks Tri fielded 12 teams - one of the largest representations of all the clubs taking part.

KCA 12 Hour TT

Martin Brown spent the day down in Kent yesterday (Sunday 4th) on his TT bike and thinks he covered 236/237 miles.
