Sergeant Bryant had given his orders. Deepcut Barracks at 11.00 for knobbly fun. Sappers Brown, Bennett, Mortleman, Linney, Lewis and Bryant junior lined up with a motley selction of equipment for a 2 hour enduro.

The latest Mort MTB week-end took as up to the Long Mynd in sunny Shropshire. 4 up: mort’s x 2, Alan Lewis, and Ian Mill, with luxury accommodation in a couple of “Pods” – basically heated sheds, with lights and power sockets – what more could you want?
I write this as a reluctant swimmer, forced (against my better judgement) to realise that if I wanted to improve my triathlon times, I had got to bite the bullet and swim.

Thanks to the set up team on Saturday 10th November,the evening looked ready to be a right old corker , and thats before anyone knew about "Sals sneeky fashion accessories parade"!!! We could expect no less with Debbies superb wine choices , Kims lovely paperbag lanterns , Sals lovingly sewn gold, silver and bronze table runners (yes Mark Evans , the thing you cut up for extra fabric to extend your sari accessories!!!!- you're disqualified!
The nice people at Tribeca Sport have offered to hold free seminars teaching us all how to look after and maintain our bikes during the winter.

The 7Oaks Triathlon which once again sold out in under a day now has some charity places available.
All of the entries for the April 2013 7Oaks Triathlon were filled in record time on Thursday. The waitlist is also full and no more entries can be taken. We are sorry that not everyone can be accommodated at our event.
First held in July 1985 the 2013 edition will be the 36th outing for the popular 7Oaks Triathlon.

It was a very cold morning down on A20 for this event that 7Oaks Tri organises on behalf of VTTA Kent.

I competed in the 40-44 age group at the Duathlon World Championships on Sunday.
Position at the end of the season after 18 events (up to and including 15 September). One event was cancelled and another won't count for club points due to an accident.

I met a couple of young aspiring triathletes last week, tried to persuade them to join 7Oaks and gave them a few tips.
Eight club members raced at Henley on Sunday. Jane Cast and Chris Palmer would like to thank everyone from the club who helped them do so brilliantly.
Club members Neil Mc, Fla Bot and Nick Anderton (plus we think a few others - sorry identify yourselves and will add you and your thoughts to the report) took part in the Challenge Henley Half (a half ironman distance event) on Sunday 16 September.
The weather was good for the last inter club event of the season which saw 23 riders (11 from 7Oaks) on the start sheet. Going out to the turn was very fast although the drag back slowed you down a bit.
A little cold and misty in places early on but not bad weather for a fast time along the A21. A few PB's were gained.

Making up for a lack in numbers (more of that later) with enthusiamand volume, three determined 7oaks teams had a great time competing inthe Southwater super sprint relays on Sunday.
Martin Brown and Jamie Saunders pushed themselves to the limit in the flat lands south of Ashford.
Not a bad morning weather wise although a little cool and a workman with a Stop/Go sign near Chiddingstone Causeway to contend with as well.

Three from the club were in action for this race which included a 400m sea swim.
Mixed news from Holme Pierrepont near Nottingham where the 7Oaks Tri F50 team continues it's winning ways with Gold again this year.
Another great turnout of 18 riders from 7Oaks Tri and a cracking sub 24 minute time and first place from Jamie Saunders.
It's the 21st anniversary of this event and we're pleased to have two teams representing the club on Saturday afternoon.
It's over six weeks since the 7Oaks Junior Aquathlon and in the meantime we have witnessed one of the greatest sporting events ever in our own country.
As everyone is aware we had a serious accident take place during the event but are happy to hear that Chris is now out of hospital and wish him a speedy recovery.
Unfortunately Chris Dines of GS Avanti had a serious accident last night and was taken to Kings College Hospital.
A new batch of club cycle kit, including long and short sleeved jerseys and men's bib shorts has arrived!
Five from the club took part in this event which acted as a qualifier for the European Age Group Championships in Turkey in 2013.
Several from the club were in action and it's understood that John Bacon was competing (with trainers on the run) in the 100th triathlon of his sporting career.

Ian Glover, Donna Shepherd, Katrina Turner and Mike Turner all volunteered to be Games Makers for the women’s and men’s Olympic Triathlon at Hyde Park.
Val Place and Martin Brown were in action over the weekend.
Not quite so many out tonight, it's the holiday season and there's a lot to watch on the telly.
21 club members made up half the field on a warm and sunny evening at Polhill. Well done all!

The coached cycle sessions at the Cyclopark on Wednesday 25th July by VO2 Maximum Triathlon coaches will include a cornering masterclass coached by Jimmy or a group riding session coached by Paula.
Sevenoakians were out in force on Friday to watch the torch relay and see a video of the dancing policeman
At last a reasonable night weatherwise although there was still a light shower during the event and it did end up a little overcast.
It was back in December of 2010 on the club Christmas ride that I first heard of this mystical event they call ‘La Marmotte’.
The club sprint championship at the Whiteoak Tri on Sunday attracted 10 club members, well done to all.
Holy friggin’ moley……………….. all in all a pretty hardcore event, requiring grit and determination – mainly determination to ignore the grit………….

The second 7Oaks Junior Aquathlon took place today - and was a big success.
If you've cycled along the A224 and specifically Polhill recently you will have probably noticed improvements in signing, road markings and a reduction in the speed limit to 50mph.
Shouldn't these people be at work?
Nine runners ran the 5k in blustery conditions at the School track.
It seemed very hard work into the wind heading back towards the finish but maybe it was just me?
After the 5K a 30 mile ride is planned from the track so bring your bike if interested. Pace will be decided by who rides but will probably be inter/fast pace.

We had 13 finishers on a wet and windy morning to contest the event that had been chosen for the Club Standard Distance championship.
