What a great weekend for the Sevenoaks Tri Swimming at the 2013 ASA National Masters Championships at Ponds Forge Pool, Sheffield. This meet was held over three days (October 25 to 27).
After a few times of pacing at the London marathon, I decided to become a ‘follower’ at the Dublin Marathon.
Having considered a 100 mile sportive on Sunday 20th mum convinced me it would be a better idea to improve my running and join her and Val for the Chilham Duathlon.
56cm, excellent condition.
The first fixture took place on Sunday 20 October with at least nine club members running, mainly for Sevenoaks AC.
The Ironman World Championships in Kona lived up to all the hype that surrounds the event.

Aging tester Martin Brown and pointy wannabe Neil McInerney opted for a UCI event in France to finish off the season. The Duonormand has been running for the last 32 years and is a 54km 2Up TT over closed roads in northern Normandy near Saint Lo.

This was only my second half-iron distance after completing the Vitruvian last year. I thought it might be a good step up with the more hilly course and full distance bike leg - and it certainly provided the extra challenge....
Sunday started dry and very bright ( hard to see in the swim) – mercifully, after witnessing so many crashes at the sprint event on Friday – but it was very cold, with air temperature at our start of 8 degrees.
Thanks to everyone who supported the Inter Club TT competition this summer.

I've been doing triathlon for about 18 months and this was my first half iron-distance race. Simon's been doing triathlon for about as many years but we both thoroughly enjoyed the day and thought the organisation, marshalling and course were first class.
The conditions were pretty good on the morning with very little wind although a bit on the cool side.
September 1st 2013 was a big day for me.
Nick Anderton and I went to Rutland Water at the weekend to do battle with the Vitruvian.
Points on day Sydenham - 20, Avanti - 23 and 7Oaks 18.
The swim was brought forward a day from the original date due to weather conditions so we had no time to worry about it we were off leaving Folkestone harbour at 3.15 am on the Thursday.
7oaks tri took no less than 9 teams to Southwater on Sunday: 27 members in all - a great turnout for this event.
Jo, Debbie and Val show it takes true guts and determination to be a great triathlete as they enter the sea at Bexhill.
Today's event at Grain was cancelled due to waterlogged roads.
There will be a chance to try out and buy wetsuits with 25% discount to club members at the lake on Monday. PB

7Oaks had a very successful day in Bolton at IMUK on Sunday.
On Sunday 28th July myself ,Ian Glover , Simon Killick and Mat Parker set off from Fell Foot at the southern end of Windermere to commence a swim of 10.5 miles to Ambleside at the northern end .
Possibly the hottest day of the year so far saw 26 riders take part in the fourteenth inter club event of the season.

I make it 7Oaks - 38, GSA - 34 and Sydenham - 13 on the night.
A warm evening, ideal conditions with little breeze, very different from the last event here in March when it was snowing. Times were a lot faster.
Five riders in the top ten and eleven out of a field of twenty five meant a successful evening for 7Oaks Tri.
This was selected as our Club Championship for 2013
The weather just about held out for the bridge triathlons and the sun even appeared during the bike leg!
It was a strong turnout from the club on a near perfect evening and GS Avanti's Jonathan Harris put in a ballistic ride smashing the course record of 54.11 set by ex 7Oaks club member Simon McLaughlin in 2010. Well done all and congratulations Jonathan!
Medals at the Europeans in Alanya, Turkey! Cath Linney and Val Place each secured a bronze medal in the standard distance. Jo Stephens-Smith was 4th in the Sprint Distance. Waiting for race report.
Dave Willumsen had another fantastic race, winning the Men's Sprint Race.(5th win this season already!)

Having entered Ironman Brazil nearly a year before, suddenly the day was looming and we left Heathrow for the island of Florianopolis in southern Brazil on Friday 17th May.

Cold but dry for six club members at the White Oak tri.
It was a very blowy day at Harrietsham last Saturday but seven members braved the very strong cross winds to take part.
7Oaks Tri Club are pleased to announce that Lizzy Yarnold, Britain’s number 1 Skeleton slider will be their guest of honour at the 7Oaks Junior Aquathlon on 7th July.
This was a rare opportunity to get a good time on this course as a strong wind pushed riders along the A21 and then up the hill to the finish line. Well done all.
A cool overcast evening saw 21 riders take part. The rain had finished by the time we started.
Current points in the Inter Club competition - 7Oaks Tri 164, Sydenham Wheelers 149 and GS Avanti 121.

Only five out from 7Oaks. A good turnout and points scoring from Avanti. We need to score some points this Thursday evening (30 May) at East Peckham on A228 to extend our lead. First rider is off at 7.15pm.
